ALEXANDRIA, La. - Art Melt 2012, presented annually by Forum 35, will open in downtown Baton Rouge on July 14 at the Shaw Center for the Performing Arts.

Now in its ninth year, Art Melt has grown to become the largest multi-media, juried art exhibit in the state of Louisiana. The event showcases artistic talent from across the state and is considered the premier cultural event of the southeast Louisiana summer season.

In addition to a juried art show, the event will include appearances by local and regional musicians and performers such as Twin Killers and The Hitchhiker, an abundance of food and drink from local establishments and food trucks and an arts marketplace featuring an assortment of artisan creations for sale.

Additional elements to this year's event include a speaker panel on the topic of artistic cultivation in Louisiana and a children's art show and project space.

The VIP preview party offers an exclusive group of interested individuals' early access to the artwork featured in the show. The evening will feature cocktails and hors d'oeuvres provided by Bravo! Cucina Italiana. The festivities will include performances by a host of musicians, including headliner Walter "Wolfman" Washington, a respected New Orleans blues and soul legend. Cocktail attire is recommended.
