Parish Water Woes

Posted: Updated:

RAPIDES PARISH, La. – This week, some areas of Rapides Parish are under a boil advisory and or affected by a water shut off notice.

A major water main of the EMC Water System, Inc. broke Monday, according to EMC Water System, affecting the water pressure in more than half of customers' homes.

EMC, which stands for the Elmer, Melder, and Calcasieu communities, services part of the south central section of Rapides Parish.

The water system board decided Tuesday to issue a boil advisory for the entire water system.

Officials say samples are scheduled to be collected Wednesday afternoon. The results of the investigative bacteriological water samples are scheduled to be received Friday morning.

In addition, Plainview Water issued a water shut off Tuesday to complete a water tank cleaning.

This will affect customers in the Union Hill, Plainview and Ten Mile communities.

Meanwhile, these communities are under a boil advisory until further notice.
