ALEXANDRIA, La. - Fire investigators are still trying to figure out what sparked the blaze that gutted an abandoned nursing home in Wardville last week.
Officials are calling this a suspicious fire and are working with Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office to follow up on leads.
When the blaze started last week on Bayou Maria Road, it covered the area with a blanket of thick smoke.
The firefighters thought it was out, but the blaze flared up again in the middle of the night.
There have been several arson fires in Wardville over the past few months.
