Smoked Meat Festival - "Le Fesivale de la Viande Boucanee"

VILLE PLATTE - This Friday and Saturday, June 22 and 23, there will be a smoking good time in Ville Platte, Louisiana.

     The annual Smoked Meats Festival, also known as "Le Fesivale de la Viande Boucanee" will be taking place at the Ville Platte Civic Center. This two-day event is promoted by Chapter 632 of the Vietnam Veterans of America,  includes a "World Championship Meat Cook off" for amateur chefs and professionals. These cooks will have to prepare and create dishes in unique and imaginative ways involving seasoning, tenderizing, and smoking meat. he cook off is open to any kind of dish using smoked meat, such as sausage, tasso, pounce bouree', deer, pig, rabbit, even fish. Festival guests enjoy entree samples sold at individual booths and hear a little bit of bragging from last year's champions. 

     News Channel Five's Mark Klein and Dorrell Wenninger will be on hand at the festival as cookery judges for the competition.
