PROVENCAL, La. -- Natchitoches deputies have arrested a Provencal man and charged him with killing his mother.
The sheriff's office says they received a call Thursday night to Willie Banes Road after family members reported 55-year-old Phyllis McMahon missing.
According to deputies, her son, 21-year-old James McMahon, told family that he couldn't find his mother. That's when they called for help.
Once deputies got there, they began a search and found her body in a neighbor's pond.
After further investigation they learned James and his mother had gotten into a fight, that they believed ended with her death.
James McMahon was arrested and charged with second degree murder.
