‘Ham Radio' Tunes In For Storm Season

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. - One group here at home is keeping a close eye on what's happening in the Gulf, and will put their skills to work in during emergencies.

Amateur radio network, also known as "ham radio," plays a valuable role when disaster strikes.

The Amateur Radio Club of Central Louisiana trains for emergency responses.

Licensed operators provide back-up communications who relay potentially life-saving information to storm-stricken areas.

It can prove to be a vital link to help coordinate resources here in Cenla or around the world.
