NATCHITOCHES, La. – Northwestern State University's Robert Wilson Recreation Complex will host Mommy (or Daddy) and Me swim classes for parents with children aged six months to three years.
"This program is designed to give youth a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguards, but does not necessarily give participants certification in First Aid, CPR or AED as a lifeguard," said Cindy Davis, aquatics director.
The program is intended to develop in young children a comfort level in and around the water, as well as a readiness for learning to swim. It provides the accompanying parent with the necessary knowledge and skill to orient their child to the water and to safely supervise water activities.
The July class will take place over the course of two weekends from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., July 14-15 and July 21-22. The fee for the course is $40.
