Mayor Calls Ruling ‘Victory' For NOLA

Posted: Updated:

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Mayor Mitch Landrieu released the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling Thursday:

"Today's Supreme Court ruling is not just a victory for the Affordable Care Act, but a victory for millions of Americans and tens of thousands of New Orleanians. The ACA has had a huge local impact. This legislation will insure thousands of uninsured young adults under age 26 in New Orleans and will make it easier for the uninsured and those with preexisting conditions to get coverage. In New Orleans, access to primary care has and continues to increase through this legislation. This decision reaffirms support for expanding access through our preventative, primary care clinic network. Through the ACA, our seniors have also saved money and received better care.

"I look forward to working with the State as it implements the Affordable Care Act. Today, the U.S. Supreme Court has ensured vital protections and benefits for our family, friends and neighbors who need them most."
