Famous Alexandria Zoo Animal Passes

Jabo the Jaguar of the Alexandria Zoological park passed as of Thursday, June 28.

She was diagnosed with cancer three years ago and at the time was given a life expectancy of only three years.

However, as time progressed, Jabo began to show outward signs of her internal battle with cancer. Despite the use of chemotherapy drugs and medications aimed at reducing or eliminating pain, Jabo began to show more signs of decreasing health.

Jabo was born Christmas Day, 1991, and arrived at the Alexandria Zoo in 1992. On average, a jaguar's life span in the wild is 12 - 15 years and up to 20 years in captivity.
