HAZARDOUS SPILL UPDATE:
As of 10:36am, traffic on the Broadway Overpass/I-49 in Alexandria is flowing. The hazardous material spill has been cleaned up. We will have more information for you as it becomes available.
ORIGINAL STORY:
News Channel 5 received a call about a possible hazardous material leak at 9am Tuesday morning on the Broadway Overpass/I-49 in Alexandria.
Reporter Brooke Buford is on the scene. She is told by the Alexandria Fire Department that liquid oxygen is leaking from the back of a Lincare company van on the overpass.
Alexandria Police Department is currently in charge of the scene, and waiting on a HAZMAT team. All thru traffic is blocked at this time. Motorists are advised to take an alternate route.
