There is currently a Flash Flood Watch in effect for several Parishes in our
viewing area, to include but not limited to:
Rapides, Vernon, Avoyelles, Allen, Beauregard, and Evangeline Parishes.

Overview
Today there is a LPS (Low Pressure System)
over the SE U.S. that is stalling out over the Lower Mississippi River Valley.
This system will bring with it a likely chance for scattered showers and
thunderstorms. A secondary LPS is over the Midwest that is bringing with it a
likely chance for rain, coupled with a slight risk for severe weather.
Elsewhere a ridge of high pressure is anchored over the Great Lakes Region,
much of New England and the Ohio River Valley.

Discussion
A Low Pressure system and Front remains stalled out to the north of Louisiana.
Southerly winds are continuing to pump a lot of moisture into our region. This
added moisture, coupled with a stationary front is assisting with widespread
convection. Most of our viewing area has already seen rain with convection still
active for parts of the area and even more rain is expected during the rest of
the day. I am keeping a likely chance for showers and thunderstorms in the
forecast with even more development during the afternoon hours.
This same setup will continue during the next couple of days. So, we will keep
rain chances up through tomorrow (Friday), with rain chances beginning to taper
off this weekend.
For the rest of the day
Expect mostly cloudy to overcast skies with some areas seeing a little bit of
clearing, this afternoon. Rain chances will remain high with a likely chance
for shower and thunderstorms across Cenla. Temperatures will range from the mid
70's to the mid 80's. Most of the viewing area will continue to see some much
needed rain. The only bad news is that there is currently a Flash Flood Watch
in effect for our area and rain chances will continue.
For the rest of the 7day planner
Rain chances will remain good through Friday, before tapering off. As rain
chances go down, we will see skies clear out and temperatures return to the mid
90's. By Monday, we should be back to normal for this time of the year. Partly
cloudy skies, highs in the mid 90's and a slight chance for afternoon showers
and thunderstorms.
THIS AFTERNOON...Cloudy
skies with rain and thunderstorms slowly tapering off by late afternoon. Event
rainfall totals may reach 3-5 inches. Highs 78-85. Wind becoming south at 2-10
mph. (80% chance for rain, today.)
THURSDAY NIGHT...Mostly cloudy skies with a few light showers. Lows 67-74. Little or no wind.
