Police: Man Was Shot, Killed In Car

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. - The Alexandria Police are now saying the man they found dead in a car on Browns Bend Road yesterday was murdered. The man has been identified as 29-year-old Demetrius Mcgee of Alexandria. Nolan Crane spoke with the victim's family and friends as well as APD and has this report.

The Alexandria Police Department has been working very hard to get answers for Demetrius's family members. They say they are talking to a lot of people but they don't have any suspects yet.

Katrina Mcgee is the older sister of twenty-nine year-old Demetrius Mcgee who was found Wednesday morning murdered in Alexandria, and she says she can't believe someone would do this to her best friend.

"I tried to do the best I can with him, and for somebody just to take his life I don't know. I don't know what he did wrong to them. He tried to help people and stuff," says Katrina Mcgee.

Mcgee was found inside a car on Browns Bend Road. Police say he was shot.

Katrina says her brother is another example of someone who is now gone to soon, and she feels bad because she brought him here to Alexandria.

"I really loved him and I brought him here from California, he was 20-years-old," says Katrina Mcgee.

APD is now doing all they can to get answers for Katrina and her family. They say they know it was a homicide, but they don't know yet, who killed him.

"We are conducting interviews, talking to several people and witnesses and trying to narrow the field of suspects," says Sgt. Bruce Fairbanks.

Family members want anyone with information to come forward so they can get justice for Mcgee.

"I just hope that if anybody knows of anything they just come to the police with it. Detective Fairbanks is on the case," says Katrina Mcgee.

"We don't stop until we get someone behind bars, for the crime," says Sgt. Bruce Fairbanks.

Katrina says until then, they'll have to wait, and remember their loved one.

"I hope they find who ever did it to him," says Katrina Mcgee.
