NEW ORLEANS, La. (ESPN) - The deal with the New Orleans Saints is reportedly for five years and worth $100 million, which makes him the highest-paid player in the NFL.
Early Friday afternoon, Chris Mortensen with ESPN reported that the Drew Brees deal was done.
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was at the top of the list. His salary is valued at $19.6 million.
Since arriving in 2006 as a free agent, Brees has led the team to three division titles and a Super Bowl.
Brees is coming off of a record-setting season in which he broke Dan Marino's record for passing yards with 5,476 and completed 71.2 percent of his passes, breaking his own record (70.6 in 2009).
Brees and the Saints set a record for total offense, gaining 7,474 to beat the 2000 St. Louis Rams' mark of 7.075.
