Deville Meeting Led To Drug Arrests

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. – Rapides Parish Sheriff William Earl Hilton credited the Deville community for several drug arrests that police recently made in the area.

Hilton attended a community meeting which was held at St. John Catholic Church in Deville on Tuesday.

The meeting was held in response to recent thefts, burglaries and narcotics activity in the area, and was organized by concerned citizens from the community.

Hilton says information from the meeting led deputies and U.S. Marshals to arrest Jacob Thomas Huffman, 26 of Deville, on outstanding warrants held by RPSO.

Huffman was also arrested for illegal carrying of a weapon, 1 count of theft, 1 count of theft, 1 count resisting an officer, and 1 count possession of a legend drug.

In addition to Huffman, three other narcotics-related arrests:

  • Katelyn Michelle Vandusen, 20, of Deville, 1 count possession of CDS I and 1 count of drug paraphernalia.

  • Douglas Paul Garoutte, 31, of Deville, 1 count contempt of court, 1 count possession of CDS IV, 1 count possession of a legend drug, and 1 count drug paraphernalia.

  • Marcus Dylan Huff, 20, of Deville, 1 count possession of CDS I, 1 count of CDS IV, and 1 count drug paraphernalia.

"This is a perfect example of how when the community becomes involved, crimes are solved," Hilton said.

Detectives are still looking for Joshua Huffman who also has active warrants out for his arrest.

Anyone with information should call RPSO at 318-473-6700 or crime stoppers at 318-443-7867.
