ALEXANDRIA, La. -- If you're looking to start your Christmas shopping a little bit earlier this year, in Alexandria on Saturday, about two dozen local shops helped you get ready.
At Funky Fleur de Lis on Wimbeldon Drive, they're celebrating Christmas in July.
It's part of a special program put on by the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce to get locals shopping in locally owned stores.
Workers at the shop say it helps them put money back into the community.
"Local businesses are what supports the community," said Katie Brauer, an employee. "Us being supported by the community lets us give back to the community. She's very involved with donations in local charities. More business we can bring in, the more she can help the economy outside of us."
Some of the great products this store has to offer during the holiday season include candles, picture frames, Saints gear and bottle cap signs.
Other participating stores included Kitchen Warehouse, Shabby Chic and Terra Home.
