Cyclist Dies In Sabine Parish Crash

ALEXANDRIA, La. - Late Monday night, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Sugartown.

Troopers responded to the crash on July 16 around 10:05 p.m., which occurred on La. Hwy 191 near Walkerville Road.  

The crash involved a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 49-year-old Millard J. Acklin.

The motorcycle was traveling southbound on La. Hwy 191 when Acklin lost control and exited the right side of the roadway.  

After exiting the roadway, the motorcycle entered a ditch and began overturning.

Police say Acklin was wearing a helmet, but was pronounced dead at the scene.  

According to reports, routine toxicology tests are pending, and the crash remains under investigation.
