Warming Trend

Posted: Updated:

July 23

Today there is a Low Pressure System to the north of New England. An associated cold front is stretched through the NE U.S, across the Ohio River Valley and extends in to the Central Plains. There is a likely chance for rain, coupled with a slight risk for severe weather associated with this system. Elsewhere, a ridge of high pressure is anchored over parts of the SE U.S.

Remnants of a stationary front continue to meander over Central Louisiana. As this old front stalls out, rain chances will decrease significantly during the next couple of days. A ridge of High Pressure will move into our area and become anchored over the Lower Mississippi River Valley for the next several days. With High Pressure, comes clear skies, light & variable winds and low rain chances. This pattern is typical during the summer months. So, we will only see a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. This Ridge will move out of the area throughout the overnight hours and tomorrow. Temperatures will be on the rise and Humidity values will stay high. This will keep our Heat Index ranging from 100-108 throughout the next couple of days. Winds will be light and variable with high humidity values.

For the rest of the day
Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with In & Out cloud cover and a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon and early evening. High temperatures will be in the lower to mid 90's with high humidity values making it feel like 100 degrees. Most of the viewing area will see partly cloudy skies and there will only be a few, scattered showers. As of 12:00pm, there were only a few light showers in the area. Winds will remain light to moderate and out of the South throughout the day. Overnight, expect some clearing with tapering rain chances and a muggy feel with light and variable winds.

For the rest of the 7day planner
During the next couple of days we will see rain chances decrease. Meanwhile, temperatures will go through a warming trend. By the end of the work week, expect  High temperatures in the upper 90's with Heat Indices ranging from 105-110.
TODAY... Expect patchy fog early. Otherwise, rain chances conditions will become Hot & Humid with Heat Index values near the Century mark. There will be a chance (30%) for afternoon showers and a few thunderstorms. Highs 89-95. Heat Index 97-103. South wind 2-10mph.

MONDAY NIGHT...Fair to partly cloudy skies and muggy. Lows 70-76. Light & Variable winds.
