The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office says a woman drowned in the Red River Thursday night.
it happened in an area south of the Purple Heart Bridge, around 6 o'clock.
Investigators tell us that a 39-year-old Pollock woman was swimming in the river with some family members, when she went under the water and failed to resurface.
A dive team located the woman's body around 8 o'clock Friday night.
Her identity has not been released.
