ALEXANDRIA, La. – Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office released new details on a woman who drowned in the Red River Thursday night.
According to reports, it happened south of the Purple Heart Bridge around 6 p.m. A dive team located the woman's body around 8 p.m.
Family members told deputies they were having a family gathering when Brandy Falkner, 39, of Pollock dove in the water and never resurfaced.
This is the second drowning this month in Rapides Parish.
