ALEXANDRIA, La. - Pineville and Rapides Parish leaders dug some new ground at the downtown levee Tuesday afternoon.
The Rapides Levee System is moving toward recertification because of the $16 million in federal grant money that was just awarded to the parish.
Mayor Clarence Fields says this levee certification will not only save property owners money on their insurance rates, but open the door for economic development on both sides of the river.
