There are currently Heat Advisories in effect for our viewing area. Follow the
link below to our website for details on all Warnings, Watches & Advisories
24/7.
Overview
Today there is a Low Pressure System over the
Northern Plains with a cold front stretched South through the Northern and
Central Plains and a warm front extending through the Great Lakes Region. This
system has a good chance for rain and a slight risk for severe weather associated
with it. A secondary system is fizzling out in the SE US. It will bring one
more day of scattered rain to parts of the area.
Elsewhere a ridge
of High Pressure is over parts of the Gulf Coast States.

Discussion
A ridge of high pressure is extended over Central Louisiana and this feature is
helping keep rain chances down, humidity values up and high temperatures
extreme. During the next couple of days, this ridge will begin to break down. This
means that temperatures will begin to fall as more clouds gradually move in and
rain chances go up. During the weekend we will return to a typical summertime
pattern where we can expect highs in the 90's with light and variable winds and
a chance for rain. Heat Index values will remain in the 100-105 degree range
with some areas seeing Heat Advisories issued.
For the rest of the day
Expect plenty of sunshine with a few clouds possible, becoming partly cloudy at
times. Rain chances will be kept to a minimum (<10%) and Peak Heat Index
values will range from 105-110. Overnight, expect clearing skies and a warm
& muggy feel. Winds will become light and variable.
For the rest of the 7day planner
During the next couple of days we will see rain chances stay gradually on the
rise. Meanwhile, temperatures will stay high with mostly sunny to partly cloudy
skies, through Saturday. After this
ridge of high pressure begins to give in, temps will drop a little and rain
chances will return. This will bring some relief to parts the area. However,
Heat index values will continue to range from 105-110.
TODAY...Expect clearing early,
followed by In & Out cloud cover and a slight (20%) chance for scattered
showers. Highs 93-99. Heat Index values 102-108. SW wind 4-12mph.
THURSDAY
NIGHT... Fair to partly cloudy skies and muggy. Lows
73-79. Light & Variable wind.
