Grant Parish School Board will be busy this year renovating several schools.
One that needs a lot of work is Verda Elementary. It's one of the much older schools in the parish. Thanks to a property mill tax approved by area voters, the school will be getting a new wing and getting rid of the old portables and bathrooms that are in poor condition.
Principal Paxton Teddlie says that the makeover will help the kids learn in a safe environment for years to come.
The project is set to take 7 to 9 months, and is valued at half a million dollars. Click on the video to watch the story with Sherman Desselle.
