NATCHITOCHES, La. — The Natchitoches Parish Grand Jury returned indictments Monday against two Natchitoches Parish men in separate homicides.
According to Natchitoches Parish District Attorney Van H. Kyzar, Reado Nargo, also known as Reanaldo Nargo, 28, of 113 Lee Street in Clarence, was formally charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the Jan. 26 shooting deaths of Johnny L. Brimzy and Stanley J. Brimzy in Campti.
Earlier this year, the Town of Campti was shook up with the news of a double homicide. One body was found in the middle of Vaughn Street and less then 100 yards away was another body.
At the time, investigators spoke with several people, including Nargo. While he was being questioned, deputies say Nargo escaped with his handcuffs still on.
Nargo was recently apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Washington and will be returned to Louisiana to face the murder charges at a future date.
Also indicted was 21-year-old James Edward McMahon of 346 Willie Banes Road in Robeline. McMahon was formally charged with the murder of his mother, Phyllis McMahon on June 21 at their residence.
According to deputies, her son, 21-year-old James Mcmahon told family members that he couldn't find his mother. When deputies arrived at the house, they began a search and found her body in a neighbor's pond.
After a further investigation, authorities discovered that James and his mother had gotten into a fight that they believed ended with her death. She had been severely beaten and strangled.
"McMahon is scheduled for arraignment in the 10th District Court in Natchitoches, and a trial date will be set at that time," Kyzar said in a statement.
