RAPIDES PARISH, La. – Deputies arrested an Elmer man Wednesday on drug and weapon charges during a routine traffic stop.
On Highway 1199, Jonathon Louis Pleasants, 26, of 1162 La. Hwy 199 in Elmer was stopped for not having a displayed license plate.
Deputies say Pleasants admitted to having a handgun in the vehicle. The weapon was confiscated along with an unlabeled pill bottle containing numerous Klonopin tablets on top of the handgun.
Pleasants was found to be driving under suspension in an unregistered vehicle. Police also say he didn't have a prescription for the pills.
Pleasants was arrested and charged for illegally carrying weapons and drugs, failure to register a vehicle and driving under suspension.
