ALEXANDRIA, La. – It's time to get your shrimping gear ready.
The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission say the fall inshore shrimp season will open at 6 a.m. on Aug. 13.
Over 21 million pounds of shrimp were landed in Louisiana from January through June.
The opening covers the state's inside waters from the Atchafalaya River to the Louisiana-Texas state line.
The state inside waters from the Atchafalaya River east to the Mississippi-Louisiana state line will open 12 hours later at 6 p.m.
Some areas are still closed to commercial fishing and certain recreational fishing due to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
