Leesville, LA - The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Offiice responded to an emergency call regarding the crash of an aircraft at the Leesville Airport on Friday afternoon, August 3rd.
The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office received notification of the crash at around 5:10pm on Friday afternoon. VPSO Deputies along with officers from the Leesville Police Department and members of the Leesville Fire Department, arrived within minutes of the 911 call.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel did observe a single-engine Cessna aircraft lying on its roof in a grassy area, north of the end of the runway.
The scene was secured by emergency personnel and it was determined that the plane was occupied by only the male pilot who was not injured.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was contacted regarding the crash and the FAA will be the agency conducting an investigation into the incident.
The pilot's name is not being released as of yet, pending the investigation.
