LAFAYETTE, La. (KFLY/WAFB) – The body of missing Lafayette student Mickey Shunick has been found in Chataignier, according to news reports.
The task force assigned to investigate the Shunick's case, along with Evangeline Parish Sheriff deputies, arrived in the area around 3 p.m., which is south of Ville Platte, where authorities say the body of the missing Lafayette student is located.
Recently, the former Fort Polk soldier Brandon Lavergne pleaded not guilty to first degree murder charges.
Lavergne is accused of killing Lisa Pate in 1999 and Mickey Shunick on May 19.
A trial date was set for after Oct. 9, which is the deadline for all motions to be filed.
