Injury Led To Ball Park Closure

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. - According to Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy, a fan was injured after attending an Aces game at the ball park. He said the fan fell through the seating in the wooden grand stands. The incident prompted the closure of the upper deck for the rest of the season, which ends Aug. 11.

Roy said he wasn't sure when the incident took place, but he was notified by a member of his staff about it. Roy also said he went to the park to see the damage before the decision was made to close the seating.

"We need people to react to this. And, we need people to step up, and talk about how we can make this work," Roy said. "This is going to be a community effort to keep Bringhurst."

The mayor said the city is aiming to have a timeline for the ball park's future in 30 days.
