Once again, Wednesday brought hot, humid weather and a few storms.
THE HEAT
Highs across central Louisiana ranged through the 90s Wednesday with peak heat index values above 105 degrees. Winnfield and Anacoco were the "hot spots" with 99 degrees; Natchitoches hit 98; and Esler Airport, Colfax, and Many with 97. The "cool spot" was Opelousas with a high of 92 degrees.
A FEW STORMS
Showers and thunderstorms affected about 20% of the area. The best coverage was in Vernon, Sabine, Natchitoches, Grant, St. Landry, and Winn Parishes. William and Velva Behan near Anacoco picked up nearly one inch of rain. Leesville had 0.54 and Montgomery measured 0.50.
OUTLOOK
The heat and humidity will continue but the chance for rain will get better Thursday and Thursday night when a front and an upper-level disturbance approach from the northwest.
