It was a steamy start to the week for central Louisiana with precious few showers and thunderstorms.
Monday's weather got off to a warm start with lows averaging in the middle 70s. Readings at Bellwood, Natchitoches, Colfax, and Simmesport only fell to 78. The cool spot was 73 at Oakdale.
Max temperatures once again ranged through the 90s. Anacoco and Natchitoches maxed out at 97 degrees while Opelousas and Natchez, Miss. saw 91 degrees. Heat indices reached or exceeded 105.
A FEW SHOWERS AND T-STORMS
I estimate the coverage Monday at less than 10%. Whiteville measured 0.10 and Plaucheville 0.15. Winnfield measured 0.01 inches from morning drizzle.
The heat will continue and rain chances will stay low through Thursday. By Friday, a cold front will approach central Louisiana and rain chances will increase. The weekend is looking "wet" (for August, at least) with 60% chances each day. My best guess right now places the front in central Louisiana for three days before it washes out next week.
