The Summer Teaching
Institute will be held Thursday and Friday, Aug. 16 and 17, and is organized by
the Eloise Ferris Mulder Center for Teaching Excellence on LSU Alexandria's
campus.
The two-day event
will include presentations centered on new and improved ways of connecting with
students and engaging students in the learning process.
The Summer Teaching
Institute is held every year prior to the beginning of the fall semester. It
provides an opportunity for faculty to become better informed of recent trends
in best practices of teaching effectiveness. Eleven different workshop sessions
will be held over the two days in the Barbara Brumfield Caffey Annex.
McGuire has been with
LSU since 1999, having served as the director of LSU's nationally recognized
campus-wide learning center prior to her promotion to assistant vice chancellor.
She also spent 11 years at Cornell University, where she received the highly
coveted Clark Distinguished Teaching Award.

Alexandria on Monday, Aug. 20.
