KINGSVILLE, LA.- Louisiana now has the second highest obesity rate in the nation according to a new CDC study.
33.4% of the residents surveyed in the state are obese, but experts say the percentage is probably higher due to the fact that people tend to under report their weight.
Being overweight raises the risk for serious health issues like Diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
Experts here in CenLa say the key to good health is to pay attention to the foods that you eat, get plenty of exercise, and make sure you always eat breakfast!
"Enjoy food. I'm not telling you to give up the foods that you like, but take notice of what you're eating. You're putting it in your body. This is the only body you get and once it's gone...it's gone," says personal trainer Kalvin Hackney.
And another good tip to avoid becoming one of the statistics is to eat several small meals a day. Experts say you should never let more than four hours pass without eating some type of healthy food.
