LOUISIANA--Just one year after near-historic flooding, water levels on the Mississippi are at near-historic lows from Illinois all the way to New Orleans.
This video shows just how low water levels are in Memphis.
And this is affecting everything from commerce on the river to recreation.
The biggest impact, though, may be shipping. Low water levels are forcing barge companies to lighten their loads by as much as 25 percent so the barges can ride higher in the water.
The river's low levels are due to a mild winter, a dry spring and a hot summer.
