Candidates Seeking Office

ALEXANDRIA, La--Qualifying for the November 6th election for state and local offices ended Friday, and several races filled up at the last minute.

Here's a look at who qualified:

U.S. Representative Rodney Alexander was among the first candidates qualifying for a state race.

Alexander is seeking a sixth term and will be challenged by Clay Steven grant and "Ron" Caesar.

In Avoyelles, the Mayor for the village of Hessmer is between Travis Franks and Teresa Gauthier.

In grant Parish, the Mayor for Georgetown comes down to Jeremy L. Lee versus Danny Olden.

The race for the city councilman at-large seat in Alexandria is looking like it could be quite a battle. Roosevelt Johnson, Milton Gordon, Emile Doc Hurts Jr., "Lee" Rubin, Steve Coco and Daniel Williams are all vying for that position.

While the councilman seat for district three in Alexandria will have Alice "Red" Hammond, Houston Rax Jr., Jerry Jones, Gwendolyn Foster and Jules R. Green.
