UPDATE: Suspect in Larto Homicide Found

LARTO, La. -- We have an update on the triple homicide in Larto. Suspect John Ponthieux Jr. was arrested by police around 12am on Tuesday morning. 

According to deputies, around 3am Monday they got a call about a disturbance at a house on Moody Road in Larto. 

They say when they got to the house, they found three people murdered.

74-year-old Annie Bell Adams was found dead inside the home.

Her daughter, 51 year old Edris Ellard and son in-law 45-year-old John Ellard Jr. were found dead outside of the home. 

Police are not releasing the cause of death yet in this case.

LARTO, La. -- The Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for a man wanted in a triple homicide in Larto early Monday morning.

News Channel Five's Brooke Buford was at the scene, she has the latest.

"The typically quiet community of Larto was rocked early Monday morning with the news of a suspected murderer on the loose.

"A triple homicide is always out of character," said Catahoula Parish Sheriff James Kelly.

According to the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office, around 3 a.m. they got a call about a disturbance at a house off Moody Road. When they got to the home, they found three people dead.

"At the scene, a 75-year-old lady was found deceased in her residence," said Sheriff Kelly. "And, outside in the yard, two other residents who were also deceased."

We're told the victims: 75-year-old Annie Bell Adams, her daughter, 51-year-old Edris Ellard and son-in-law, 45-year-old John Ellard, Jr. had all been brutally murdered.

Police say, the suspect in the triple homicide, Lee John Ponthieux, Jr. fled by motorcycle and then possibly ran on foot.

"The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office SWAT team is trying to make entry into the house with the robot," said Sheriff Kelly. "We've made visual and personal searches of all the out buildings. We also have State Police SWAT team at another location, that we believe the suspect could be."

Ponthieux was last seen wearing jeans and a gray shirt. If you have any information, you're asked to contact police.

Police aren't releasing the cause of death in this case yet. They also tell us they believe Ponthieux was an acquaintance of the family. As of Monday evening, he is still on the loose and is considered armed and dangerous.
