Police Probe Hate Group

ST. JOHN PARISH, La. - One of the two St. John Parish Sheriff's deputies killed in last week's shoot out was buried Monday, as authorities continue to investigate the suspects in connection to the shootings.

Friends and family gathered to remember Jeremy Triche. The funeral was held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in LaPlace. Triche would have been 28 years old.

Law enforcement from all over the state turned out, including members from St. Landry Parish.

The funeral service for Brandon Nielsen, the other deputy who died, is set for Wednesday.

Meanwhile, detectives say they were monitoring the seven people arrested in the fatal shootout before the shootings happened.

Police say the group has ties to the "sovereign citizens" movement, a group who believe they are free from all duties of a citizen.

The FBI considers them a danger for making threats to judges and law enforcement, in addition to using fake money and impersonating police officers.
