When I spoke to the weather watchers this evening, they all remarked what a pleasant day it was for August. Temperatures and humidity were lower, and that made for a comfortable day.
PLEASANT START
Temperatures this morning were mostly in the 60s, with Winnfield, Atlanta, and Bellwood the lowest at 64 degrees. Minimum temperatures only fell to 70 at Opelousas, Marksville, Ville Platte, and the Alexandria Power Plant. Considerable high cloudiness, above 12,000 feet, overspread the area during the night and that held the temperature up a few degrees. Had it not been for the clouds, readings this morning would have been lower. The 30-year averages at near 72 degrees.
COMFORTABLE AFTERNOON
Max temps ranged through the 80s with the warmest coming from Esler Airport and Anacoco with 88 degrees. Lowest highs came in from Gum Springs at 83. There is still a boundary just north of Opelousas. This front separates drier air to the north from more humid air to the south. With the passage of a short wave aloft tonight, the front should sink south of I-10 by Wednesday morning.
Enjoy the good weather.
