ALEXANDRIA, La.—The president of Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance weighed in on the possible redevelopment of the Bentley Hotel.
Jim Clinton says he thinks it's a great idea to re-open the historic hotel that's been closed for eight years.
He feels that bringing the hotel back to life and adding more rooms near the convention center is important for downtown Alexandria's commercial district.
"You have great cultural infrastructure in downtown Alexandria, a healthy relationship with the commercial district in Pineville. There's a lot of potential along the river, we're excited about the development," says Jim Clinton, President of Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, or CLEDA.
Businessman Mike Jenkins has a purchase agreement to buy the Bentley from its current owner, Bob Dean.
An update on financing for the project is expected on August 31st.
