Thursday was a fine day according to the weather watchers.
A "COOL" START
Temperatures in the 60s greeted just about everyone as they began a new school and work day. Winnfield dropped to 61, followed by Jena, Esler Airport, and Natchez, Msss. at 62. Opelousas was the warmest at 70 this morning. A "normal" late August morning low is about 71 or 72 degrees.
Max temps were a mix of 80s and 90s. The hot spots were Gum Springs, Montgomery, and Winnfield at 94. Opelousas hit 88 and Marksville 87 for the lowest afternoon highs.
A precious few showers skirted central Louisiana Thursday afternoon and evening. This indicates moisture is on the move toward the north and northwest and will overspread the area Friday. A good chance for showers and thunderstorms results from the increased moisture and daytime heating. Most of the rain should be over in time for the football Jamborees.
See you tomorrow.
