Friday brought a change in the weather pattern as moisture flowed in from the south. Lower temperatures during the day and widespread rain resulted. A subtle surface low pressure, centered over southeast Texas, brought the moisture in from the Gulf.
Most max temps stayed in the 80s Friday after 70s for morning lows. The highest temperature in central Louisiana was at Esler Airport with 91. DeRidder's high was only 79.
Widespread rain fell over central Louisiana. The highest totals came from Eunice with about two and a quarter inches and Oakdale with an inch and a half. Everyone said the rain was welcome.
The moisture will linger for several days, although the low pressure will dissipate. Daytime heating should activate the residual moisture and trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms, with less of a chance Sunday.
Have a good weekend and be safe!
