ALEXANDRIA, La. -- The circus is back in town at the Rapides Parish Coliseum.
The annual event brings tigers, elephants and aerialists center stage in a three ring circus.
The circus is put on by the Cenla Shrine Club.
A portion of the proceeds from the event go to helping children with orthopedic and burn care around Central Louisiana get the treatment they need at Shriner hospitals nationwide.
"What I want to do is encourage everybody to come out and support us," said Sheriff William Earl Hilton, Rapides Parish Sheriff and a Shriner. "When you see a Shriner, whether he's in a parade or standing on a corner soliciting money, all that money goes to the hospital in Shreveport. It's just a great philanthropy that we do for our children."
