Overview
Today, there is a slow moving cold front that will continuing to bear down onto
our area until it fizzles out. Along this system, light, scattered shower and
thunderstorm activity began around Noon. Elsewhere, T.S. Isaac continues to
move toward Louisiana from the NE Gulf of Mexico. This system will make
landfall near the mouth of the Mississippi River on Wednesday morning as a Cat.
1 Storm, before moving inland toward Cenla.
In the Tropics, Forecasters are watching three different areas of interest in
the Atlantic Basin, to include Tropical Storm Isaac. To read our latest Hurricane Blog, follow the link below to

Discussion
As this cold front continues to push toward our area as T.S. Isaac approaches
its landfall. Isaac is being accompanied by a very tropical and moist air-mass.
This is pushing up against the slow moving front and causing convection on the
extreme western edge of our viewing area. T.S. Isaac will impact our area
Tuesday through Thursday. Expect T.S. conditions with some places possibly
seeing lower Cat 1 Hurricane strength winds at times (Cat 1. Winds range from 74-93mph),
beginning Early Wednesday morning.
For the rest of the day
Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with a slight chance for scattered showers
and thunderstorms throughout the area totaling 20% coverage today. This means
that less than a quarter of our area will see some of this rain. Highs will
climb well in to the 90's and Heat Index values will range from 100-105 with a
variable, light to moderate wind.
For the rest of the 7day planner
Starting Tuesday Night, Tropical Storm conditions will be likely throughout our
area as T.S. Isaac makes landfall and moves inland. Some model guidance and
forecasters suggest that this storm will slow down and come just short of
stalling out over our area. Rain chances will be definite and there will be a
risk for severe weather. To include: High winds, Heavy rainfall, Flash flooding
and more. This event will begin to wrap up Late on Thursday followed by
clearing skies and falling rain chances on Friday.
TODAY...Mostly
sunny to partly cloudy skies with In & Out cloud cover and Hot & Humid
conditions. There will be a slight chance (20%) for scattered afternoon showers
and thunderstorms. Highs 93-99. Heat Index values 100-105. NE wind 3-12mph.
MONDAY NIGHT...Partly cloudy skies with gradually
increasing cloud cover. Lows 70-76. North wind 2-10mph.
