ALEXANDRIA, La. – Chief Loren Lampert of the Alexandria Police Department, who will act as the city's public information officer, gave a summary of the storm preparation activity during the special meeting.

"We will prepare for the worst and pray for the best," Lampert said.

The city's emergency preparedness team is headed by Utility Director Michael Marcotte, who is empowered to coordinate the city's response to the storm.  Commissioner T.W. Thompson will act as operations chief and Kay Michiels will head up planning and engineering responses and coordinate with the parish-wide and state emergency response.

On Monday, the city released a Hurricane Toolkit to assist residents with disaster planning.
