RPSO received a
complaint from the Louisiana Department of Children & Family Services in
reference to possible child abuse. According to the complaint, a child
under the age of one, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Following an examination by medical personnel, it was determined the child had
life threatening injuries which were inconsistent with those reported by
family. Detectives made contact with the victim(s) mother Alysha Kay
Gaskins Neal and it was learned the juvenile received its obvious injuries
several days prior and medical treatment was not provided. Upon
completion of their investigation, a warrant was granted for Alysha's arrest in
reference to 2nd Degree Cruelty to Juveniles.
On August 25,
2012, twenty-two year old Alysha Kay Gaskins Neal of 72 Elmer Frazier Road was
arrested in reference to the warrant and booked into the Rapides Parish
Jail. Alysha was released the following Monday after posting a $5,000.00
bond. Detectives state their investigation is still ongoing and
additional arrest, are possible.
