VERNON PARISH, La. – Police arrested an Oakdale man on Friday for defacing a grave site.
The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint about Keith Aaron Hernandez, 31, on Aug. 29. Police say Hernandez harassed and made threatening telephone calls about going to a local cemetery to cause damage to a grave.
Hernandez was taken into custody at the Vernon Parish Jail on Aug. 29 and arrested on three counts of improper telephone communications with a bond set at $ 3,000.
While in jail, detectives also say Hernandez on was charged additionally with one count of desecration of a grave, one count of simple arson, and one count of criminal mischief. The bond was set at $ 8,050 on the three charges related to the defacing of the grave site.
Hernandez remains in the Vernon Parish Jail Friday as he is also currently on parole.
