Plenty of Sunshine and Hot & Humid

Posted: Updated:

Overview
A ridge of High Pressure is anchored over our region. This ridge will continue to build in as a low pressure system (Over the MS, AL & FL Gulf Coast) fizzles out. A secondary Low Pressure System is developing in the Plains. This will be our next weather maker. A front will move through Cenla during the weekend.

Discussion
For the next couple of days our weather will be under the influence of the High Pressure Ridge. As usual, this high pressure will bring with it clear skies (with only a few light clouds), a warming trend and Light & Variable winds with low rain chances. These conditions will continue through mid-week this week.

For the rest of the day
Expect plenty of sunshine with a few clouds possible throughout the afternoon hours. Conditions will become partly cloudy with almost no chance for rain. Highs will rise well into the 90's and Heat Index values will range from 100-106. Winds will be light to moderate and variable.

For the rest of the 7day planner
Through the later part of the week, expect to see rain chances remain low with abundant sunshine. Come Thursday and Friday, expect gradually increasing clouds and rising rain chances. This weekend will bring with it, a cold front. This means good rain chances, followed by clearing skies and cooler temperatures, come Sunday. However, for the next couple of days, conditions will be HOT & HUMID with Heat Index values ranging from 102-110.  If you spend an extended amount time in the sun today, drink plenty of water.

TODAY...Patchy AM fog, becoming mostly cloudy skies early. This morning, skies will clear out and become mostly sunny to partly cloudy and hot. Highs 93-99. The peak heat index may reach 106. West wind 2-12 mph.

TUESDAY NIGHT...Fair to partly cloudy skies and a continued muggy feel. Lows 72-78. SW wind 2-6 mph.
