Two Men Charged In St. Rita Case

ALEXANDRIA, La. - Two suspects were arrested in connection to the home invasion at the St. Rita Catholic Church Rectory on Aug. 29, and were additionally charged in connection with another home invasion.

The invasion injured two priests on Aug. 22 in the 100 block of North 14th Street. There were no reported injuries where a man was also robbed, according to police.

Paul Antonio Clark, 18, of Alexandria and Ashunti Pearrie, 18, also of Alexandria were each charged with one count of home invasion, armed robbery with use of a firearm and false imprisonment with use of a firearm.
 

Alexandria police say no other details will be released at this time and the cases are still under investigation.

On Aug. 22, police made several arrests after a priest was shot and his assistant were injured during the attack. Both men were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Officials say the two men were Fr. Craig Scott, pastor of St. Rita and Fr. Marek Norjek, who is also a priest and Scott's sacramental assistant. Scott was shot and Norjek suffered injuries to his head.

Along with Clark and Pearrie, detectives arrested Dearon Tannehill, 17, Larry Culbert, 21 and Cornelius Wilson, 17. They were also charged with attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery.
