ALEXANDRIA, La. - Last year, the St. James Episcopal Church sold the Canterbury House. After months of repairs and renovations, the new owners are officially open for businesses.
James Johnson and his wife Lorene had to leave their home in LaPlace and evacuate to the mega shelter in Alexandria because of Hurricane Isaac.
While at the mega shelter, they discovered their home was destroyed. So, James began looking for a new place he could call home.
The timing couldn't have been more perfect to find a permanent place to stay because this week the owners of the Canterbury House opened their doors.
James says the staff there is phenomenal which is making the Johnson's stay more enjoyable.
