After being ranked in the Top 25 nationally for the first time last season, the Wildcats are on the verge of repeating that feat this season.
Landing just outside of the Top 25 with 31 points, the Wildcats are coming off of a 24-13 victory over a very talented Belhaven University squad that features over 40 Division 1 and Junior College transfers.
Coming in at No. 3 in the weekly poll was Louisiana College's week 4 oppoenent Wesley, who is off to a 2-0 start and received 570 points. The Wildcats get a bye week before facing Wesley in the home opener on September 22.
Right on the heels of Wesley was American Southwest Conference foe Mary Hardin-Baylor, who came in at No. 4 nationally with 545 points. The Wildcats will square off with the 7-time defending ASC champion on October 13 in Wildcat Stadium, a game that could have huge implications on the face of the ASC title hunt.
