Folks in central Louisiana awoke to a glorious start this morning with most minimum temperatures in the 50s. A few reading dipped into the lower 50s, with 53 at Leesville and Winnfield. Atlanta and Simmesport followed closely with 54 degrees this morning. Opelousas was the warm spot with 60 degrees.
Afternoon highs responded to the ample sunshine and the dry air with most locations seeing a 30+ degree turnaround from the morning low to the daytime high. For example, Bellwood hit 91 degrees after a morning low of 54. Natchitoches also registered a high of 91 while Colfax hit 90. Most readings stayed in the 80s, however, with Marksville, Simmesport, Opelousas, Ville Platte, and Bunkie at 85 degrees.
Slowly but surely, the weather pattern will change. Moisture will return by Friday and Saturday, just in time to meet a new cold front. This should stir up at least scattered rain on both of those days. You can look for higher temperatures, both at night and during the day, but it will not be anywhere near the heat experienced last week.
Enjoy the comfortable weather!
